From My Balcony

From My Balcony

From My Balcony

From my balcony

Encased in the glass window

I see a few pigeons sitting

On the windowsill, on a parapet,

Lonely and forlorn, deep in grief

During the lockdown

In the days of corona scare

Or perhaps, peeping into the future

To gauge days to come.

Frolicking all the time

Yesterday and day before

They seem to have forgotten

Their playful days!

Are they sentient?

Know what is happening

To us, the humans,

And feel sad as a neighbour would?
