Description
The book titled ”GEOSTATISTICS FOR BEGINNERS” deals with basics of Geostatistics ie it deals with Regionalised Variables, which have spatial distribution and spatial correlation. Variability of the variable does not depend on the location but depends on the distance between the samples. This is the concept of VARIOGRAM. I have tried to answer three basic questions:
What is Geostatistics?
When to apply Geostatistics?
How to apply Geostatistics?
More emphasis has been laid, on the logic, required to be fed into the computer programmes, for solving various problems. By this approach, cumbersome mathematical formulae have been avoided to the extent possible, with an idea to generate interest of the reader even for a beginner, in the state of the art technique of Geostatistics. Scope of the book has been restricted to Linear Geostatistics and Simulation with only passing remarks to Nonlinear Geostatistics, and other recently developed new advanced techniques have been purposely avoided.
I hope this book Geostatistics for Beginners, will generate an interest in youngsters, for the advancement of the technique, in the country.
About The Author
ANIL KUMAR MEHROTRA is a topper of Msc Geology 1973 from Lucknow University. Has served MINERAL EXPLORATION CORPORATION LTD (A Mini Ratna Company) Under the administrative control of Ministry Of Mines Govt of India for about 40 yrs. Shri Mehrotra has vast experience in the exploration of various minerals such as coal, lignite, copper, lead, zinc and gold deposits, located throughout the country which involved planning, execution and assessment and preparation
of geological reports.
He has more than 20 exploration reports to his credit as an author and many technical papers presented in National and International seminars.
He is professionally trained from Centre Of Geostatistics Fontainebleau France and possesses a POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN ADVANCED MINING GEOSTATISTICS (CFSG)1992-93 from Ministry of INDUSTRIES FRANCE.
After superannuation, he is an Honorary Faculty in for teaching Economic Geology and Geostatistics UG and PG students. Presently he is a Guest Faculty/Consultant with Dr Dhawan’s Academy of Geologists Greater Noida India and Sr Consultant Mineral Exploration and resource estimation utilizing Geostatistical techniques with AWRL Llyod India Pvt Ltd.
