The Summer That Found Me
I was not looking for summer that year,
I wore my silence like folded fear.
The world had turned in quiet hues,
And I had nothing left to lose.
But June arrived like a whispered friend,
With skies too blue to comprehend.
It stitched a sunbeam to my chest,
And laid my tired heart to rest.
I walked alone through amber grass,
Where dragonflies like secrets pass.
And in the hush, the world confessed—
That healing comes when you’re a guest.
A lemonade smile from a stranger’s cart,
Melted something in my heart.
A child ran past with feet so free,
Like time itself was chasing me.
The wind played songs I used to hum,
Of childhood days when joy would come
Just from the scent of rain on stone,
Or knowing I was not alone.
That summer didn’t shout or shine—
It simply sat and said, “You’re fine.”
And for the first time in a while,
I found my tears had learned to smile.
So if you ask what summer brings,
It’s not just sun or butterfly wings.
It’s every piece of you made whole—
It’s light returning to the soul.
