Unspoken

Their eyes met, across a college corridor

Time stopped, in the bustle galore

He mesmerised, by the jewels in her eyes

She looked away, scarred by lies

His heart ached, when she was unseen

With one look, how could she be my Queen?

Her eyes found him, in campus or car

Her heart, her radar, tracked him from afar

He became the King, of her Universe

Was this love, another curse?

They crossed each other, many a day

Courage too weak, love had no say

On a rainy day, she sat in a room

The rain and thunder, as loud as her gloom

No friend to laugh and hold her hand

Her heart, an endless barren land

He slid in the seat beside her

She wanted to run, her legs betrayed her

He asked her name. his voice gentle as a flute

Her hands moved to say, she was a mute

Jewels rolled down, her sad stricken face

As he walked away, averting his gaze

The ride back home, was weary and long

Her heart heavy, her lips bereft of song

Another dream smashed, into a million parts

His silence piercing, a heart torn apart

She sat hidden, in the shade of the trees

The campus afire, with Valentine dreams

She wanted to shrivel, escape the noise

But her courage bolstered, her equipoise

She smelt cologne, here he was

Next to her, her hand in his grasp

Her Valentine, forever a friend

Love sublime, without an end
