He forgot but i remembered
Two inseparable souls
Me and him
Our days began together,
and faded into night the same way
We lived in happiness
Until we found the chapters of our life started to fade away
Little did I know
He would forget me too.
Recognizing who i was,
Even saying my name,
Became a challenge for him.
All the memories we built were shattered.
Everything began to fall apart.
He once knew my favorite meal, my favorite place—
Now, he didn’t even know my face
From hugging me when I cried,
To walking me across the street—
Everything changed.
I was no longer his favorite,
I lost my identity,
And with it, all my hope
But then I realized—
Though the past slipped quietly away,
I still held the power to shape the days ahead.
I still had the power
To create new memories.
They would be new for him,
But even more precious for me.
Then one day, while we were eating together,
He looked at me and said I was his favorite.
In that moment, the memories came rushing back—
A smile on his face, a sense of belonging.
It lasted only a few minutes,
But for me, it was everything.
I felt thankful to God
For giving me the chance
To relive those beautiful moments—
To make each one count again.
In the end, I do not regret a thing.
He was the chosen one—
The one who lived his life twice.
They say that before death,
Your life flashes before your eyes
In just seven minutes.
But my favourite
He will witness his journey three times:
Living it twice,
And remembering it once.
The beginning was filled with thorns,
But this new journey—
From being forgotten
To sometimes being remembered—
Was unexpectedly beautiful.
And in the end,
Everything came full circle.
It was my grandfather and me again—
Only this time,
I played the role he once played for me,
And he, unknowingly, became me.
