INNER PEACE (Why Are People Unhappy)
Inner Peace: Why Are People Unhappy?
Preface
Life is full of questions, and no one knows all the answers. Yet, death is certain—a truth beyond questioning. Many spend their whole lives being chased by the shadow of misfortune, seeking an escape or a way to be in tune with their destiny. It is a great loss when humans cannot laugh wholeheartedly. Such people are truly poor—they cannot sleep, breathe, or move with ease. It is a grave blunder to die without discovering one’s true self. All knowledge and experience are meaningless if one does not understand the energy that makes us move, walk, think, talk, see, breathe—the very energy that makes our heart palpitate and keeps us alive.
The question, “Why are people unhappy?” is one of the most discussed topics across the world. Many philosophers have offered their perspectives, but often without providing clear or understandable reasons. However, there is no simple answer to this question. Many factors are entangled and muffled, making life feel mysterious and unfathomable. In this book, I seek to explore some of the reasons for unhappiness and offer solutions.
Lies are complex, while truth is simple. Take, for example, the tree, which must grow in two opposing directions at once: downward and upward. The roots grow downward (gravitropic) and the branches grow upward (phototropic)—yet both follow a similar growth pattern. The height of the tree, the stretching of its branches, its flowers and fruits—all depend on the growth of its roots. In the same way, our material and spiritual aspects must grow in parallel and in harmony.
Spirituality is the foundation of our entire existence. In today’s world, many have overlooked the spiritual aspect, causing their material pursuits to become a source of great suffering. It is like a bat claiming, “There is no sun”—this does not negate the sun’s existence. We must learn to understand the inner world—the invisible realm as well. This body we inhabit comes from the very blueprint of the universe, much like an architectural sketch giving life to a house.
Blessings, health, and wisdom are the three of life’s most inevitable gifts. Without blessings, both life and nature wilt. True health is the balance of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Without health, all else is lost. In the same way, wisdom opens the door to heaven. Life is not merely what we desire, but what it truly is. Life becomes beautiful when we repay our karmic debts, embrace the Vedic wisdom, and learn to manifest wisely.
Just as a beautiful butterfly emerges from the humble caterpillar, a pearl is formed through pain, and a diamond cannot reveal its true value without enduring the heat of charcoal and the hard polishing. This is the nature of life itself. Ignorance brings suffering when people remain unaware of the mystery of their body, mind, and soul. When we understand the mechanisms of life, embrace the Vedic wisdom, begin to appreciate what we have, and receive blessings, life transforms into a benediction. Only then we begin to
experience the abundance of life.
