Dearest Divine Darling

          Dearest Divine Darling

After meeting Rhea, I told a buddy

“I’ll marry her. She’s the one for me.

Mark you, for I’ll love her to eternity.”

My voice surcharged, rang a certainty.

She was a volcano, ballerina in motion,

With doe eyes, luscious lips – a temptation.

Only God coulda made someone like her

It’s much later that I learnt about her scar.

At 18, when told she’s gonna be a Mummy

Her lover wanted her to abort the baby,

He fled, shying away from all responsibility,

She’s made to feel herself a huge liability.

One fateful day, I found them in the park.

She was sitting on a bench, I’d my luck.

The toddler ran around, broke into a dance

I watched from a distance as if in a trance

We became fast friends, Rhea and me

After I’d saved Rima from the stinging bee.

On Valentine’s Day, I proposed to my love

With unshed tears, she’s happy like a dove.

“Ron, there’s a God after all in heaven.

You know that today’s Feb fourteen?

You’re the best thing that happened to me.

I’m eternally grateful to The Almighty.”

“You’re wrong, Dearest. I’m the lucky one.

I want ye to be the happiest, to have fun

You mean the world to me. You’re my life.

Will you marry me? Be my wife?”

Almost a decade has passed since then

But I can’t take my eyes off Mrs. Sen,

Can’t thank God enough for blessing me

With divine Rhea darling. I’ll love her to eternity.”
