Curious Confessions

While I’m on the roads, stop people deliberately and talk

Differently and indiscreetly, study emotions as I walk

Many disapprove, my inquiry as unpleasant and avoid

Discordant or ebullient, look upon me as a paranoid

Many pour out their insights with a stubborn intellect

There is no euphonic conversation from those I select

Many pair their experiences with delectable appeal

Some talks continue over feasts and an exciting meal

Few musters the courage to confess – ‘my life is a mess’

Some in panic assail my prudence, to thwart my guess

To explore, there are all kinds of people on the streets

Adorable kids, the most wonderful for cheerful greets

My encounter with an embittered soldier hurt me most

He pointed at his body, where the limbs he had lost

His sarcastic tongue lashed out at the sacrifices he made

‘I couldn’t even make a living by picking up the spade’

I found learners cluster around a teacher giving lessons

Learners with jilted confessions, failed in their ambitions

‘Why do things we love turn into blazing hate?’

I’d not come to class as much; I went on a date’

A bearded truck driver stopped at my feet to ask his way

He offered me a ride if whatever his demand, I could pay

‘Life would reveal itself when you embark on a travel,

Every person you meet has something to unravel.’

A man abruptly emerged from the crowd holding his pants

‘Find me the toilet,’ the air filled with his urgent rants

Someone gave him directions to the public convenience

Meanwhile, he dropped the faeces on others’ conscience

I found on everyone, burden of unpredictable human needs

Even a timid can bravely adjust to ignore or pay heed

Excited people and things hold specific interest to invoke

A religious congregation misread a politically twisted joke

I saw a beggar who impressed with his stereotype image

He begged the whole town from the mayor in a rage

‘If we indulge in begging, nothing specific we require

We do it in tatters, while everybody is in a different attire’

The day ended with meeting an old, adorable couple

As age grew on them both, they also grew supple

‘We need to live with meaningful conversations

Keep away from family or social contaminations ‘
