The distance between
She used to say, she knew me, through every vein
In her arms, I was a puzzle, unsolved , a mystery, hidden, forever untold ,
I was in her sight, but I was a mirror ,
All she saw was the distance between us, and I was distant from myself.
She used to say she understood me, like she knows herself ,
We spoke the same words, but meant different things,
Our voices echoed with unspoken meanings.
She used to say, it doesn’t matter to you
Whether I’m here or I’m gone,
But the silence screams your name,
And the emptiness echoes your absence.
She used to say, she knew me like the back of her hand
But I was a mystery, even to myself
And the truth was, she never knew me at all
Now I’m just a memory, fading from her walls.
We drifted apart, like leaves on water
Our paths crossed, then separated
I’ll hold on to the memories
And let go of the love that faded away.
