The Curious Boy

Once there was a boy named Arjun who lived in a busy town filled with cars, buildings, and noise. But Arjun was not like other children—he didn’t like video games or cartoons much. What he loved most was asking questions.

“Why do stars twinkle?”

“How do birds know where to fly?”

“Why does the moon change its shape?”

His parents called him “The Question Machine,” and even his teachers smiled when he raised his hand again and again in class. Arjun was curious about everything.

One day, Arjun saw an old man fixing a broken clock at the corner shop. The man had tools spread out and tiny screws in neat rows. Arjun watched silently for a while and then asked, “Can you teach me how to fix clocks?”

The old man, Mr. D’Souza, looked at him and said, “Only if you’re patient and careful.”

Arjun nodded eagerly. Every evening after school, he would visit Mr. D’Souza’s shop. At first, he just watched. Then, slowly, he learned how each gear moved, how the springs worked, and how time itself ticked forward in tiny steps.

Weeks turned into months, and soon Arjun could fix clocks on his own. One day, his school’s big wall clock stopped working. Everyone said it was too old to repair, but Arjun asked for a chance.

He took it home, worked on it for two days with care, and brought it back—ticking perfectly. The whole school clapped for him. Even the principal smiled and said, “You’re not just a curious boy now—you’re a smart and helpful one too.
