THE MAKEOVER
I was always plump since childhood.
I was bullied in school and college and never selected for school or college plays or dance shows.
One day while returning home from college, i saw a group of students sitting in a small cafe across the street.. They were all laughing and chatting. I wanted to join them , but my inner voice pulled me back .
I longed to have friends who would want me to be a part of their lives and not laugh at me .
Gradually I began withdrawing into a shell . I refused to come out of my room when guests and relatives came over . My mother was my only best friend who listened to my problems patiently.
” One of the most difficult things in life is to accept yourself as you are” said my mother . “Instead of forcing yourself on those who dislike you , focus on those things which you like . “
I now understood that it was upto me to make myself happy and bring out the best in myself.
I joined a gym and began following a strict fitness regime . My mother encouraged and monitored my routine.
I started a dance and music academy . Now I had many well wishers and friends who were genuinely encouraging and appreciating my talents . I always attribute my happy life to my late mother who taught me that , ‘ confidence makes everything possible.’
