RAIN
(Imagination of a Child)
Rain… Rain… you are mine!
Rain! Sometimes, you are fine.
Rain! Sometimes, you bring pain.
Rain! Are you dwelling in the sky?
Rain! Why do you come down to the earth as drops?
Rain! Are you crying in grief?
Rain! Who has troubled and beaten you—
your mother or father?
Rain! Are your tears falling
on the earth as raindrops?
Rain! Why do you sometimes fall angrily
on the earth with a horrifying sound?
Rain! Are frightening thunder and lightning
your friends or foes?
Rain! Your rhythmic falling drops
are beautiful to the eyes,
and soothing to the heart and mind!
Rain! I am immensely fond of you
and want to see you every day!
