Hamari Adhuri Kahani (Our Unfinished Story)
Hamari Adhuri Kahani (Our Unfinished Story)
The day there’s a heavy downpour, I was singing at the top of my lungs:
“Tere dilka mere dil se, rista purana hain……” ( The relationship between our hearts, goes back ages).
A 20-something-girl, stepped up to me, looking for my Professor brother. Gradually, I learnt her name, Priya.
She entered my life like a meteor.
“Why do you always keep yourself locked up? Don’t you wanna enjoy Life?”
I kept mum.

“She’s a very lively girl.” Bela Bhabi remarked one night as we were sitting side by side on a bench. “I think she’s the one for you.” She concluded.

Another day, Priya chirped out: “No wonder a self-assuming young man like you gets misunderstood often.”
“As if I care!”
“You should. How’d you explain yourself to God when He asks about your god-gifted talent of singing someday?’
“I don’t sing for others.” I blurted out.
“That’s where you’re wrong, Ron. Our greatest happiness comes from making others happy…”
“Thanku, Madam Lecturer.” I answered, teasingly.
There’s a saying that God calls back those dear to Him, young. Priya passed of a massive stroke on her way home from college on a bleak afternoon!
Her untimely demise left me a changed man. Surprising as it might sound, I became a celebrity at around the same time.
“Tonight’s song is dedicated to someone who impacted my life profoundly.” I found my voice choking while addressing the crowds on her first death anniversary.
I broke into Hamari adhuri kahani next.
The end
