The man in my dream
Don’t wake me up right now,
He just held my hands.
The tale began a time ago,
I want to wait till it ends.
I see a man,
Lemme see his face.
Oh my God, a black coat and a white shirt,
And me in a yellow gown, carrying it with grace.
Don’t wake me up,
I want to see his face.
“Darling,” he said, and my heart began to race.
I hear the rain,
I twirled and he held my waist.
Don’t wake me up,
I don’t want this dream to fade.
The sky hummed low,
The stars stood still in place.
Time forgot to move at all
As he brushed a curl from my face.
If morning calls,
Tell the sun to wait.
Just one more dance,
With the man my heart chose to chase.
I don’t recall his eyes or smile,
Or every little trace.
But I’ll always remember how he made me feel,
Though I never saw his face
