School Hours
Skye began dreamily walking across the prairie, hoping to catch a glimpse of the wild horses. However, she heard a shrill scream from the distant abyss. It was her brother, Chris. He appeared from the tall grass after jogging a few yards close enough to reach her . He had come to remind her of departing to school. Skye let out a long sigh. School was hetic . It was 8 in the morning. She immediately raced across with her brother to reach their home . Her home was made of simplicity, not any sort of fancy and luxorious mansion . It was 2 kilometers away from the grassy prairie. Yet, she still loved her home because it was lying to close to her most cherished location. Her home was filled with comforts and cherishful memories as she spent most of her childhood here, watching the majestic beasts gracefully gallop by. Mom was school-ready and helped them pack for school. It was her fussy routine of being cooped up in a building for 7-8 hours straight because she had free spirited nature. Her only choice was to adapt to the routine like any other teen. The school bus rolled past by and she scurried to board it. She sat by a vacant seat alone, gazing dreamily at the prairie. After a long hour of passing time alone by gazing out in the window, Carolina joined her and she broke out into a wide smile because Carolina was her bestie who constantly helped her and made time to fly by gossiping and laughing for wacky jokes. When they reached school, the building was completely filled with students of different ages, scurrying to different classrooms like busy bees. However, they were in for a surprise when Jacob, the 9th grade bully, shot paper balls at them. Carolina was taken aback, but she had to run off from the embrassing scene. Skye was immediately filled with anger and fury as she was hit by the balls . She bravely faced the cronies by inflcting a brave eagle like gaze. But the bunch of cronies laughed and mocked her. Her blood was boiling. How dare they humiliate her and her bestie? She was clearly burning with revenge inside. But she controlled her emotions and inflicted a sarcastic wide smile. The boys began to grow scared and suspicious. Jacob started mocking her and immediately ordered his cronies to attack. She calmly approached Jacob, whispered something into his ears and he was dumbfounded and scared. “My Mom would gladly take care of you when she hears about your so called ‘good deeds’.” She replied in her most sarcastic calm voice. Jacob shuddered at the bad memory because he had dealt with Mom’s fury and protectiveness which made him get kicked out of school. Jacob was also taken by surprise when Skye had handled him so calmly and bravely earlier in the paper ball fight. A red colour of embarrassment came rushing to his cheeks and he immediately scurried away to his class.
