Description

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): The Ethical Edge – Navigating CSR with Legal and Practical Wisdom

A Practical Guide to CSR Law, Governance and Implementation

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has moved from feel-good philanthropy to a strategic, board-level priority that impacts reputation, compliance, risk management, and long-term value creation. This book, “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): The Ethical Edge – Navigating CSR with Legal and Practical Wisdom,” offers a clear and practical roadmap for understanding, designing, and implementing CSR in modern organizations.

Drawing on decades of professional experience, real-world corporate initiatives, regulatory frameworks, and best practices, the book follows the full CSR journey—from evolution of the concept and policy formulation to project design, execution, monitoring, and reporting. It speaks equally to compliance professionals, company secretaries, corporate leaders, independent directors, consultants, academics, and students who want both conceptual clarity and hands-on guidance.

Inside, readers will find:

1. A structured explanation of the evolution of CSR and how it has become a strategic, ethical, and legal imperative.

2. Clear coverage of CSR provisions, regulatory expectations, and governance responsibilities, with a special focus on the Indian context.

3. Practical guidance on CSR policy drafting, board and CSR committee roles, project selection, budgeting, due diligence, implementation, monitoring, and impact assessment.

4. Insights into corporate initiatives, on-ground project implementation, and how to align CSR with ESG, sustainability, SDGs, and stakeholder expectations.

5. Realistic, practitioner-oriented perspectives that help avoid common pitfalls, compliance failures, greenwashing, and box-ticking approaches.

6. Designed as both a learning companion and a workplace desk-reference, this book supports:

7. Students and emerging professionals building strong foundations in CSR, business ethics, and corporate governance.

8. Practicing company secretaries, finance and legal professionals, and CSR executives who must interpret law, advise boards, and implement projects.

9. Independent directors and senior management who need to balance ethical responsibility, legal compliance, business strategy, and social impact.

Whether you are setting up a CSR framework from scratch or strengthening existing programmes, this book equips you to plan, execute, and review CSR in a way that is compliant, ethical, and genuinely impactful.
