Description
Raqs-e-Hayat literally meaning ‘The Dancing Life’, is a tender and timeless collection of poems by Avtar Singh—a voice shaped by history, softened by empathy, and strengthened by truth.
From the shadows of Partition to the light of lived wisdom, his verses explore the fleeting nature of existence, the quiet strength of honesty, and the enduring grace of love. Each poem is a step in the dance of life—measured, meaningful, and deeply human.
About the Author
This is Mr. Avtar Singh’s third book, following Khamosh Sadayan and Rang-e-Sehr. At over 86 years of age, he continues to write—not for acclaim, but because his spirit still sings. And in that song, we are invited to listen, reflect, and perhaps, to dance along. His poetry springs not from fancy, but from lived truth: a life steeped in listening to revolutionaries, in observing the quiet heroism of honest lives, in resisting the loud chaos of hatred with the soft power of compassion. He writes with the heart of a humanist, the soul of a seeker, and the call of time.
Raqs-e-Hayat by Avtar Singh is not just a collection of poems; it is a meditation on impermanence, a celebration of inner freedom, and an ode to the quiet victories of love, virtue, and truth. In his verses, life does not march—it dances, even through grief, even through silence.
