WHEN TEARS ARE NEVER ENOUGH

WHEN TEARS ARE NEVER ENOUGH

A fracas here. A demand there.

This land is mine.

Is ours.

But, not yours.

Therefore, Stay Away.

Why should we?

The other group insisted.

You live an easy life.

You cross borders as and when.

What do we get?

And thence the dispute went back and forth.

Until all joined and sides got taken.

Allies got declared and so did foes.

Pragmatism and logic got lost in the wilderness.

Or, perhaps ignored.

The city burned, and the towns burned.

As did villages, farms, and fields.

Temples of learning and those of play were not spared too.

Rumours abounded.

Battle lines got drawn.

Oh! How everything suffered.

The living and non-living united in tragedy.

Vehicles up in fire joined buildings, homes, and the miscellaneous.

No one thought much of the furred and the feathered.

The innocent looked on with despair written all over them.

They watched life fall into a deep, endless chasm.

Where darkness ruled and evil thrived.

Where a sliver of hope got too much to ask.

And then,

Shocked. Astounded.

As human indignity and maliciousness

Swirled enough to hang every head in shame.

When tears were not enough.

When tears are never enough.
