When Narcissus Conversed with the Marigold

When Narcissus Conversed with the Marigold

I’m the most beautiful flower on earth,

Even the mirror admits the reality;

I stand alone amidst the crowd,

I’m Narcissus, I belong to royalty, by birth.

I am a happily blooming family flower,

Myriad petals are knotted to my fold;

I grow amidst my fellow colourful plants,

I’m an enchanting flower,Marigold.

Though your beauty is stunning,nobody

Comes to cast a timeless glance at you;

But I am picked by a large section of

People, of different leanings and hues.

I adorn the deities by floral offerings,

I form the part of politician’s garlands;

I am the source of employment to many,

And can also bloom in diverse lands.

Narcissus then took a deep sigh,she

Was looking melancholic and hurt;

Of what avail is my adorable beauty,

If not appreciated by all and sundry.

I’m not used by anybody for purpose

Any, and I live solely for myself;

I wish I could be like you forever,

And add something to humanity’s corpus.
