The Boy Who Found His Voice
Once in a small town by the sea, there lived a quiet boy named Kabir. He was kind and smart, but he hardly ever spoke. At school, he would sit in the last row, listening carefully but never raising his hand. His classmates often teased him and called him “Silent Kabir.”
But Kabir didn’t mind. He loved to observe the world—birds flying in patterns, clouds changing shapes, and the waves dancing at the shore. He kept all his thoughts and dreams in a little notebook that no one ever saw.
One day, the school announced a storytelling competition. Everyone was excited—except Kabir. He didn’t want to stand on a stage and speak. But his teacher, Miss Anita, had read one of his stories by chance. It was about a bird with a broken wing that learned to fly again.
“Kabir,” she said gently, “Your words deserve to be heard. You have a voice—it’s time to use it.”
Kabir was nervous, but he agreed. He spent days practicing in front of the mirror, and his little sister clapped for him every time he finished.
The big day arrived. Kabir stood on stage, his hands shaking. But then he looked at the audience, took a deep breath, and began to speak.
His story was simple but powerful. Everyone listened in silence. When he finished, the hall burst into applause. For the first time, Kabir smiled proudly—not because he won (which he did!)—but because he found the courage to speak.
From that day on, no one called him “Silent Kabir” again. They called him “The Boy with the Brave Voice.”
