The Clarion Call
Love; it beckons, oh-so-softly
Sits on your shoulder like a butterfly
Gives you hope and joy
When you dare to wear your heart on your sleeve
And silently pray that your heart won’t bleed
Being so vulnerable is hard
In a world that’s designed
To send its people out to battle
At the drop of a hat
And you know not where you stand
Uncertainty leaves you wondering
About what’s going on; what’s happening
But it’s your inner voice that speaks
When all else goes silent
And it then sounds like a clarion call
That beckons your lover from afar
