Description

All of twenty-three, Tara’s life takes a turn when her law teacher invites her to join a leading law firm as a young associate. For a smart and dedicated law student like Tara, the prospect of rubbing shoulders with the nation’s top legal practitioners is nothing less than a dream come true.

Tara’s foray into the world of courtrooms and legal proceedings is not without its fair share of delights and disappointments. On the one hand, she gets to work with her idol Meherdad E. Warren, her mentor-senior Tehlina and a host of cool friends. On the other hand, there is the stuck up and inefficient senior Praizeen Asthana and a rather obnoxious, backstabbing colleague Raj Parker, who are determined to make her already strenuous work life more difficult.

Away from the maddening buzz of office politics, in the courtrooms where Tara gets to study the commendable tactics of legal stalwarts, she runs into Yash. And even before Tara can realise it, she has already fallen for this witty and charming young man who has the makings of a brilliant lawyer. However, all is not well in this paradise.

Hidden behind the exterior of Yash’s sanguine personality is a secret that will sweep Tara off her feet. But more importantly, Tara must first learn to tackle her own demons, simplify her life and find her true calling. The novel is a bittersweet narrative of coming to terms with what the heart truly wants and taking that leap of faith.

  1. Percy Wadia

A very pleasant read. Lucid flow of writing and relates to all people on their first job. Using the Maxims and weaving it to the narrative was unique and of course the songs I liked it a lot . Great !!!! Good luck and God bless . Percy.

  2. Carol Bishop

I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Manisha Mohan Wagh. Humor – good character development – clever adding of names of pop tunes interspersed – and a great ending. If this was Ms. Wagh’s first novel, I certainly hope that we see more of her writings.

This is a captivating story, once you start reading you cannot put it down. Manisha is a fabulous story teller and obviously very knowledgeable and talented in the legal field. Ms. Wagh must be a great law professor and also very good in practice in the court room. The scenes in the novel are so vivid and spell binding one feels like you are present and experiencing every detail. If this is her first novel Mansha’s talent will make her very successful and famous and very much in demand. The end left me in suspense and very much wanting to know what will be next between her and Mr. Yash and also her legal experiences and court room and office dramas. This could easily become a popular TV series or even a movie if she follows up with more novels.

The story is very involving, excellent and well presented. The story is narrated in pleasing English and the author keeps the curiosity and interest of the reader alive till the end. The title of each chapter and its contents mention appropriate legal maxims which are otherwise rarely quoted. The story is about agony of a junior lawyer struggling hard to carve her own niche in profession against all odds. Though the story is written by a lawyer and is about working of a reputed law firm, credit goes to the Author in narrating it in such simple way that it can be enjoyed by a lay man. Young lawyers and law students must read it from the point of view of understanding as to how one must have a focused approach to the work allotted and work hard irrespective of its results without expecting any appreciation, basically for one’s own satisfaction and to enjoy that feeling of “ I can do it” which will build up confidence and positive thinking in life.
Hearty congratulations to the author for her debut book and sincere best wishes for future such endeavors. She certainly has writing skill and should continue writing. i wish her all the best.

It is said the quality of flower is known at its bud. Manisha Wagh has proved by her debut attempt that she has in her the capability to go places in short time in the world of writing. It was beyond
my expectation that a story as simple as this one could be presented in a such fluid style with all the emotions of all the characters involved, portrayed in a realistic style.. One forgets one self
while going through the book as one feels the story is slowly unfolded before one.s mind.s eye with such a perfect narrative skill that it is difficult to stay away from the book.
i wish the author all the best and would like to see more such attempts from her in portraying real life situations in the professional field.

  11. Joan Buckenham and Genny Martins

The story makes for very easy reading. It was difficult to put the book down as one was eager to find out what followed next.
Though the story is set against the background of a law firm with legal jargon, the writer is able to hold the interest of the reader. The style is fluid, the language used is grammatically correct ( A young reader could benefit from the choice of words).

Further, what is really appealing is that the writer intersperses her narration with the title of songs which are so apt to the situation as well as the Latin sayings which gives the writing a universal appeal. The insight into the main characters was just so without too much detail.

Kudos to the author and best wishes for a long innings in the world of fiction.

  12. Minal S.D.

An excellent novel which keeps you engaged till the end. Not having to do with law, I found the story easy to understand. The Author’s passion for law, music and the English language is very much visible.
A very interesting story line which you cannot stop reading till you reach the end. The curiosity of the reader keeps on rising as one goes through one chapter after another.
I loved the simplicity with which the author has put forth the characters and their lifestyle. I enjoyed reading the book very much.

  13. Sri K.

The characters in this book feel real. The book is fast paced and I was always curious on what would happen next, as I read each chapter.
The most interesting part of this book was the romance between Tara and Yash.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful book! It is very well written and flows well. I did not want to put it down while I was reading it!! It is widely relatable to many cultures and careers, and, like a good dessert, the romantic angle was sweet but not overpowering. I hope the author writes another book soon – I will be looking for it!!

Congratulations – an effort well made and a book well presented. Keep it up!! Lucid Language and a fine style of writing makes reading interesting and engaging.

The book is full of fun and of mischievous anecdotes but no heart burns. Many episodes depict near life situations and that makes it entertaining.

‘A MUST READ’ for all professionals – Chartered Accountants, Lawyers, Business Consultants, practicing Engineers and for Company Executives too. The book will provide a welcome break after a stressful hard day and will re energize them to face yet another hard day.

  27. Nilesh Tawde

Let me first congratulate the author, Manisha for her wonderful writing. I completed reading this book and thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters in the book like Shabnam, Praizeen, Anurima……..are so real that you can actually visualise and co-relate with the people around you.

The language is simple and fluent. However, somewhere at the end, I wish the author could have stretched the story a little, especially the romance. Maybe because this story is so real that you want to know more and more about what’s going to happen next in the life of all the characters.

It was a lovely experience overall. Looking forward to the next book now………

    Really Good Reading

I enjoyed the book. The story line was easy to follow. It was hard to put the book down. I thought there would have been a little more to the ending as far as getting through Tara’s battles with the company she works for but nonetheless, the book did have a good ending to it. The ending seemed a little fast.

I would suppose that there will be more about the content of the story line in any sequels to follow. Looking forward to any upcoming sequels which I would be anxious to purchase and read. The main character Tara, is a good one. The book was refreshing and I look forward to future writings from the author, Manisha. Keep writing, you’re good at it.
